I never knew that Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas originated from a musical. That song is a staple in my house during the holidays and those songs seems so timeless. It was just interesting to discover where the song came from.
I really love the post about the Tony awards, because of his statement that "this week the Standing Ovation is not for a specific musical, but for all those who are compressed in these incredible numbers that put all the honey on our lips and all the goosebumps, and make us fly to the other sidewalk of the Atlantic with the imagination." This really gives a greater appreciation for the whole business itself and the industry as art form. I think that its important to give credit, and these awards ceremonies are so beautiful and well deserved especially when a lot of these people can move a crowd to tears or transport them across the world through their art. Also, I appreciate the history and background of this post because that is always needed among the appreciation for the pieces themselves.
I was happy to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the blog. I loved the original with Gene Wilder as a kid, and when the Tim Burton production came out, I loved it just as much only in different ways. I love how iconically stylized Burton is and how he applies his style to live action is so impressive. I would love to see this in a musical because I have seen both versions so many times, I would love to compare them. From the trailer alone, I do agree with the author that it is much similar to Tim Burton's version, however it is not as extreme and I think it would be very amusing to watch the entirety of the show.
